As someone who would probably freak out and quit, too, if I went into ambulance services, I would suggest that maybe there are people in the medical profession that appear to be overly proud because it's their way of self-protection. I mean, if someone sensitive like me went into medicine, we would probably be paralyzed with shock too often. I guess the hard and better way is to be able to strike a balance, feel at times and at times block feelings (temporarily) to be able to move forward.
