who or what is your source for this data?

Eygpt is facing basically what amounts to food riots because the government can no longer subsidize the food families like the Ahmed's eat.

And for the US photo, I see a lot of take-out food. For a family of four, that can be very expensive.

I like how the German family has what appears to be more beer than food!.

The picture from Chad is very depressing. Though there appears to be legumes and flour products, there is very little fresh produce.

concerned - I got it by email with no referrences. It's for entertainment value only.
Shira - the Germans and Americans have lot's of junk food, processed food and beer with little or no fruits and vegetables. Notice that the family in Chad have no adult males.
I eat more like the Italian and Mexican family.

Wow. I was going to say I don't see how anyone can spend all that on food per week but then started doign some quick claculations and quickly shut up. Portugal's always been expensive for us but I cannot even look at prices anymore when buying food, veggies have become the ultimate luxury, it's utterly ridiculous.

Actually if you look carefully, almost everybody in the world (at least those shown in these pictures) has enough to eat, except the chadians, who are identified as living in a refugee camp, so they are probably subsisting on what the U.N. or some other equally corrupt bureaucracy gives them. The costs around the world are fairly close, too, although the prices in Egypt look very cheap.
